Rail Infraestructures
Abando, the central Renfe station in Bilbao (today Abando Indalecio Prieto), was fully renovated as part of the Southern Railway Bypass operation. New platforms and tracks were built, required to accommodate the trains on the new southern line, as their route previously ended at La Naja.
A direct connection to the platforms was established from the main lobby via several sections of escalators and lifts and the lighting and roof were renovated. Abando is now a large transport hub, with access to the metro, bus and tram.
