Miribilla Public School

Within the operations developed by BILBAO Ría 2000 in Bilbao la Vieja, the construction of a new building for a Public School was one of the most outstanding and far reaching for the area. The new school building, which came into operation in the 2005-2006 school year, has three floors and a roof prepared as a play area. All floors are connected by a large ramp guaranteeing excellent accessibility to the entire building.

The school has two independent centres within the same building: a nursery school, for boys and girls from 0 to 2 years old, and the public school, for ages 3 to 12.

The strategic value provided by the construction of this new building was to allow the relocation of the previous school, located in the Plaza del Corazón de María, which was later remodelled to enhance its character as the nerve centre of the neighbourhood.
